Flash alert – Covid-19 Pandemic: 478 More Confirmed Cases on 20 January + quarantine and testing updates

At 20:00, the Ministry of Health and Sports (MoHS) reported 478 new cases in the last 24 hours. They were detected out of 20,476 tests, i.e. a positivity rate of 2.3%. 11 more patients died from the disease in the last 24 hours.
Since the beginning of the pandemic in Myanmar, in March 2020, 135,721 people have been contaminated by Covid-19, and 2,997 have died from it.
On another note, a little-publicized information was confirmed recently by Yangon Covid-19 committee: all travelers back from abroad are now requested to stay in quarantine for 2 weeks in a hotel plus one week at home.
Lastly, the Yangon Region Industrial Supervision Committee instructed the factories in all industrial zones of Yangon Region to submit their data on labour force to their Zone Management Committee by 25 January. The purpose is to test the workers Covid-19 using Rapid Diagnostic Test Kits (RDT). No further practical detail was provided.
