Flash alert – Covid-19 Pandemic in Myanmar: Details of 10 January Cases

Yesterday evening at 20:00 hrs, the MoHS announced that 555 new Covid-19 cases had been identified. Since the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020, 130,604 people have been tested positive to Covid-19 and 2,846 people have died from it. At 19:30 Hrs today, the MoHS released the spatial breakdown of those 555 cases:

In Yangon Region, 245 new cases were reported, i.e. 84,802 cases since March 2020. Yesterday, the main surge took place in East Dagon Myothit (+61 cases), Mingaladon(+25 cases) and North Dagon Myothit (+15 cases). North Okkalapa and Mingaladon remain the most-affected townships, with more than 5,700 cases each.
In Mandalay Region, 126 new cases were reported, i.e. 14,874 cases since March 2020. Yesterday, the main surge took place in Chan Mya Tharzi(+20 cases), Maha Aung Myay (+16 cases) and Chan Aye Tharzan (+13 cases). Chan Aye Tharzan, Aung Myay Tharzan and Maha Aung Myay Townships remain the most-affected areas, with more than 2,300 cases each.
