Flash alert – Covid-19 Pandemic: 596 More Confirmed Cases on 6 January 

Wednesday 6 January, 2021       

At 20:00, the Ministry of Health and Sports (MoHS) reported 596 new cases in the last 24 hours, i.e. 127,804 cases since the beginning of the second wave (16 August). Details about those new cases will be released tomorrow evening.   

Those 596 cases were detected out of 17,279 tests conducted in the last 24 hours, i.e. a positivity rate of 3.4%. The MoHS also stated that 19 more patients had died from the disease in the last 24 hours.  

Since the beginning of the pandemic in Myanmar, in March 2020, 128,178 people have been contaminated by Covid-19, and 2,785 have died from it.
