Flash alert – Covid-19 Pandemic: Stay-at-Home orders in Mandalay
Sunday 27 December, 2020
Starting from 26 December, and until further notice, Mandalay town is under strict Stay-at-Home orders. The order applies to the following townships:
- Aung Myay Tharzan
- Chan Aye Tharzan
- Chan Mya Tharzi
- Maha Aung Myay
- Pyigyidagon
- Patheingyi
- Most parts of Amarapura
Those regulations are the same as the ones imposed on Yangon Region until this morning:
- Government staff must work on 2 weeks shifts
- Only essential businesses are allowed to operate; all the others have to shift to Work From Home or close completely. Factories will be allowed to operate only after government approval
- People are allowed to leave home only to buy food supplies (one person at at time) or to seek medical care (2 people at a time).
Those rules may impact your activities, whether you do operate in Mandalay, or work in connection with Mandalay-based partners.
Rules in Mandalay have been confusing: early December, Mandalay Region authorities imposed a non-official Stay-at-Home order, which was lifted mid-December. Those new orders are imposed by Union Government.
